My Story in My Words

My Story

Hi, I’m Azuma. I’m a mother, writer, and someone who has known grief intimately. I lost my mum in the 2005 London terrorist attacks—a moment that changed my life forever (you can read more about it in The Dressmaker’s Daughter). Since then, I’ve appeared in documentaries, shared my journey publicly, and found a quiet strength in storytelling.

Writing this book was not just a creative goal—it was part of my healing. Through fiction, I found a way to honour my pain and transform it into something meaningful. My hope is that this book will help others feel less alone in their grief and more powerful in their healing.

I write about grief, trauma recovery, resilience, motherhood, and finding light after loss. My mission is to create stories that empower, connect, and comfort. Thank you for being part of this journey.
